Can OmniPump-1 Inflate a SUP? We Tested It.
Yes — OmniPump-1 can inflate a SUP. But there is an important difference between being able to do it and being the ideal pump for every SUP inflation situation.
One of the questions we've received since introducing OmniPump-1 is simple:
Can it actually inflate a stand-up paddle board?
It's a fair question.
A SUP requires much more air than a bicycle tire, and the inflation process takes significantly longer.
So instead of simply saying "yes," we decided to test it ourselves.

The Short Answer: Yes, But It Takes Time
Our test used a 10.6-foot inflatable SUP.
We started at 0 PSI and inflated the board to 10 PSI.
The complete inflation process took approximately 20 minutes in our test.
So, yes:
OmniPump-1 can inflate a SUP.
But a SUP is a very different workload from a bicycle tire.
This is one of the reasons we don't want to describe OmniPump-1 simply as "a pump that can inflate everything."
Different products require very different amounts of air.
A road bike tire needs high pressure but relatively little air volume.
A SUP needs a much larger volume of air, even though its target pressure is much lower.
That difference matters.
Our 10.6-Foot SUP Test
For this test, we used a 10.6-foot inflatable SUP.
The test conditions were:

This was not intended to be a laboratory benchmark.
It was a practical test designed to answer a question we were actually receiving from users:
Could we bring one compact pump on an outdoor trip and use it to inflate a SUP if needed?
For that question, the result was useful.
It showed us that OmniPump-1 can handle the job — but also that a large inflatable requires a very different amount of runtime from a bike tire.
Why Does a SUP Take So Much Longer?
The answer isn't simply about pressure.
It's about air volume.
A road bike tire may require a relatively high pressure, such as 80–120 PSI, but the amount of air inside the tire is relatively small.
A SUP is the opposite.
It operates at a much lower pressure, but the board contains a large amount of air.
That means the pump needs to move a much larger volume of air before the board reaches its target pressure.

Road Bike Tire
High pressure / Low air volume
VS
Inflatable SUP
Low pressure / High air volume
This is also why we don't think inflation time should be presented as a single number.
The same pump can have very different results depending on:
-
The size of the inflatable
-
Starting pressure
-
Target pressure
-
Required air volume
-
Valve and connection
-
Battery condition
-
Temperature
-
How long the pump needs to run continuously
What About Battery Life?
This was probably the most important thing we learned from the SUP test.
For a bicycle tire, an inflation session can be relatively short.
For a SUP, the pump has to run for much longer.
That means battery capacity becomes much more important.
OmniPump-1 has a 1150 mAh battery, and it can also be connected to a 12V DC power source for longer inflation tasks.

For longer, high-volume inflation tasks, the 12V input gives users another option when continuous power is available.
But battery-powered inflation still has practical limits.
That's why we don't recommend thinking about OmniPump-1 as a replacement for a dedicated high-volume SUP pump.
So, Is OmniPump-1 a Good SUP Pump?
It depends on what you need.
If you regularly inflate a large SUP and want the fastest possible inflation, a dedicated high-volume SUP pump may still be a better choice.
But if you're looking for one compact pump that can cover several different outdoor situations, the picture is different.
For example, you might bring OmniPump-1 on a trip where you have:
-
A bicycle
-
An inflatable SUP
-
Camping equipment
-
Sports equipment
-
A car
In that situation, having one compact inflator that can handle different inflation tasks can be useful.

This is closer to how we think about OmniPump-1.
Not:
One pump that replaces every pump.
But:
One compact pump designed for multiple real-world inflation needs.
What We Learned From the SUP Test
The SUP test gave us a useful reminder:
A product's capability and its ideal use case are not always the same thing.
OmniPump-1 can inflate a SUP.
But that doesn't mean we want to tell every SUP user that it is the fastest or most convenient option for every situation.
We'd rather be clear about the trade-off.
For occasional SUP use, travel, backup inflation, or situations where carrying several pumps isn't practical, OmniPump-1 can provide another option.
For frequent inflation of large SUPs, especially when speed is the main priority, a dedicated high-volume pump may make more sense.
That's an important distinction for us.
We don't want our products to sound better on a product page than they feel in real life.
We want people to know what they're getting.
Why We Tested It Instead of Just Saying "Yes"
This is actually part of a bigger approach we've taken with OmniPump-1.
From the beginning, we've been trying to test the product in situations that are close to how people will actually use it.
That's why we've tested:
-
Road bike tires
-
E-bike / lower-pressure tires
-
Car tires
-
Camping inflatables
-
Sports equipment
-
SUPs
The goal isn't to collect impressive numbers.
It's to understand what the numbers actually mean.

What We're Still Learning
The SUP test also raised more questions for us.
How does performance change with different SUP sizes?
How does battery performance change in different temperatures?
How much does starting pressure affect the total inflation time?
How does repeated use affect heat and runtime?
These are the kinds of questions we want to continue testing.
Because product development doesn't stop when we get the first "yes."
Sometimes the more we test, the more questions we discover.
And that's a good thing.
Our Answer
So, can OmniPump-1 inflate a SUP?
Yes.
In our test, OmniPump-1 inflated a 10.6-foot SUP from 0 to 10 PSI in approximately 20 minutes.
But the more useful answer is:
Yes, but understand the workload.
A SUP requires much more air volume than a bicycle tire, so inflation takes longer and uses considerably more energy.
For occasional use, travel, or as a compact multi-purpose backup, OmniPump-1 can be useful.
For frequent, large-volume SUP inflation where maximum speed is the priority, a dedicated SUP pump may still be the better tool.
We Believe Honest Testing Matters
We could have simply said:
"Yes, OmniPump-1 can inflate a SUP."
And stopped there.
But that wouldn't tell you enough.
We think useful product information should also explain:
How long does it take?
Under what conditions?
What are the limitations?
Who is it actually suitable for?
That's the kind of information we want to keep sharing as we continue developing BSCOBBER products.
Because for us, reliability isn't only about whether a product works.
It's also about whether people know what to expect before they use it.
Our Founder Story explains more about why we've been trying to build BSCOBBER around product development, testing, and direct customer feedback.
More Testing, More Questions
The SUP test is only one part of the OmniPump-1 development process.
We'll continue testing different use cases and sharing what we learn — including the situations where the answer isn't simply "yes."
Because taking our time has always been part of how we approach this product.
Test.
Learn.
Improve.
Then test again.
That's how OmniPump-1 has been developed from the beginning.
